About This Site
I started this site to make AI concepts and results accessible to people who might not otherwise do so. Maybe due to opportunity or knowledge.
So what is this site?
Right now this is an early version of what I hope to be an interaction between AI and the protestant Bible.
How did you make this site?
This site was produced by working with AI to generate the code. I used ChatGPT-4o and Claude. It's built on the old-school LAMP architecture. This is what I used most many years ago when building sites so it's what I have the most knowledge of. There are more modern architectures and frameworks but this was the quickest method to jump into.
It would have probably cost me about $5000 to hire someone to do this. I did it on my own with time and AI. This process and the conclusion will probably be worth a whole other document.
It may have bugs or vulnerabilities. That's part of the experiment.
Why did you make this site?
As above, I wanted to make AI available to people who otherwise wouldn't have a chance to dig into it. Also I thought it'd be an interesting exercise to intertwine the historical and spiritual importance of the Holy Bible.
Are you a Christian?
Yes. Which is one reason I'm doing this. Anything that gets people into The Word is a good thing.
What version of the Bible is this?
I needed a public-domain/open source Bible that I could use royalty free. The first version is the World Messianic Bible (WMB). It's a little different than the traditional Bible, but I thought it'd be interesting to start with.
The WMB is a variant of the World English Bible. I plan on adding the World English Bible as well as other public-domain Bibles (including the KJV) so the user can select them to use. If you know of an open source Bible that I should consider, please reach out via the contact info below.
The site seems pretty limited
Yes, this is the very first of the very first version. It's essentially AI generated static content right now. And the only publicly available function is the daily reading. But still a good intro for people who aren't familiar with AI. There is more to come.
What's up with these pictures?!?!
The pictures are generated by AI when asked to illustrate a chapter. Dall-E-3 in particular. Dall-E has a pretty interesting view of the world. I've noticed that it really likes to put birds and flying things into the scenery. And sometimes it's just crazy with what it comes up with. I also noticed that it liked to put Jesus in many of the pictures where he wasn't referenced, which was also interesting from an evangelical perspective.
In generating the images, it struggled a little bit with chapters that had problematic imagery. The Bible has violence and other elements that bothered content filters. Some passages required multiple passes to generate an image. If you see an image that doesn't seem to match, that may mean it had to come up with something more benign to get past the content filters.
I'm planning to load multiple pictures from multiple AI models in the future, to show the different perspectives the models have. And show improvement over time.
What is the roadmap for future development?
The short list:
- Additional Bible Versions
- A full enrollment/login system that will let people start a reading plan when they're ready.
- Additional LLM model interpretations and image generation models to highlight additional capabilities.
The future list
- More reading plans (18 month, New Testament only, etc)
- AI generated music, video, and other multi-media
- More detailed analysis including reference to historical theologians and commentators
- A bunch of other stuff.
How can I get in touch with you
